Butterfly love

I love butterflies. I love their colours, the way they flitter flutter about and their freedom. They are the prettiest insects.  They are like mini travellers exploring different bushes, gardens and parks, flying around freely and quietly, not bothering anyone. They don’t bite or sting humans. The photos below were taken at Samui Butterfly Garden in Koh Samui, and Phuket Butterfly & Insect World in Phuket, Thailand in 2005 & 2006.

They start of as an egg, then a caterpillar. Caterpillars are squashy, squishy and not very nice looking and move irregularly and awkwardly. They then become a pupa and then transform into a regal beautiful butterfly. It’s no wonder that some species of butterflies are called Monarch.

I love butterflies so much that I have tops, t-shirts, scarves, necklaces, bags, blankets, cushions, candle holders and other home decor items with butterflies on them

Recently, my sister-in-law Tania asked me, “when did you suddenly start liking butterflies?”. I laughed at her and replied ” I have loved them for a while. I even have a tattoo with a butterfly and I had it made in 2006!”. She was surprised. (Love ya, Tans).

Butterflies are the most beautiful, best behaved bugs of all. That’s why I love them!
