I have lived in Europe, Asia and Africa. Cape Town, South Africa is my home. I have lived here from 1983- 2005, & 2008 until present. In between we lived in Phuket.
Cape Town is the second most populated city in South Africa. It lies at the bottom of Africa between two oceans, the Atlantic and the Indian oceans.
Cape Town is a vibrant city. If you are a tourist, there are loads of different places and sights to see. It is rich with culture and history and is the most scenic city in the world. In my opinion, I would say Rio de Janeiro is second. Cape Town is surrounded by majestic mountains, two oceans, winelands, beaches and fynbos vegetation. Some places to visit are Table Mountain, Cape Point, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Gardens, V&A Waterfront, Long Street, Greenmarket Square and many more. A must do is take a scenic drive on Chapman’s Peak. Different areas to visit are Muizenberg, Hout Bay, Green Point, Kalk Bay. Famous wine regions such as Constantia, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl.
Cape Town is a melting pot of culture, people and food. From Bo-Kaap to Stellenbosch. From fried calamari to a gatsby. An eclectic mix of life.
I choose Cape Town, as my hometown. I am happy and proud to call this awesome town my home. Whenever I go travel, I look forward to my trips but I am always excited to come back home. Cape Town is the best city in the world.
Some future posts will be about various must see places in Cape Town, where locals hang out, secret spots where Capetonians chill. I asked my husband how he would describe Cape Town and he said “fucking lekker”. Lekker is an Afrikaans slang word meaning great or nice.
