Boulders beach is a sheltered bay and sandy beach in Cape Town, where you can see African penguins. As in the name there are big boulders on the beach. It is home to a colony of African penguins.
This is a must see when visiting Cape Town. It is situated about 45-50 minute drive from the Cape Town CBD. This is the only place on earth where you can get up close with these penguins in their natural habitat. You get to the beach via a boardwalk and there is a viewing deck where you can get to see the penguins from. There is a small fee to pay for using the boardwalk R70 for adults and R35 for children 2-11 yrs.
The boulders shelter the beach from currents and big waves and is a lovely beach to spend a Summer day at.
Kids love to visit the penguins and it is quite a unique experience. This is one of the unusual places you can visit whilst in Cape Town.
