Bali is indeed a beautiful island belonging to Indonesia. It is situated in South East Asia and in the Indian Ocean. East to west, the island is approximately 153 km wide and it is approximately 112 km from north to south.
Bali has a tropical climate, so it is always warm and is either wet or dry. Bali is a popular tourist destination.
In December 2014, we stayed in Nusa Dua, which is the southern most tip of the island. It is in an “enclosed” area and you have to go through a security boom to get into the area. There are 3 security gates to the area. Many of the resorts are situated within Nusa Dua. We stayed at the Courtyard Nusa Dua Resort. It is a 5 star resort and has a private beach club.
The reception area is big and there is a lot of seating space. You get a welcome drink on arrival. I love the rectangular lampshades.
Don’t you just love the carved wooden ceiling and bird statue by the water feature?
The rooms are light and bright, comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The rooms have a beige and turquoise colour theme. The floor is tiled. We had interconnecting rooms on the first floor and both rooms had a balcony with a view of the lagoon style swimming pool.
When entering the hotel the car has to go through a security check and when you enter the hotel you have to put your bags in an X-ray scanner and walk through a scanner, exactly like if you were at an airport. This is the only hotel that I have been to that does this, and all hotels in Nusa Dua apparently do this. It can be quite annoying, but I guess it is for our security.
The pool is lovely and it is refreshing to go for a dip after a long day of touring. Everywhere is far to go in Bali and it can take a whole day to tour just a part of the island. There is also an outdoor bar by the pool where you can enjoy a cool drink, beer or a cocktail or two.
Driving to and from the hotel within Nusa Dua. The area is clean and the gardens/ lawns are well kept. I love that there are Balinese walls, statues and entrances next to the road. There are lots of scooters/ motorbikes in Bali.
There is a shuttle that you need to take to go to the Courtyard’s private beach. It is a great surf spot. The sand is light and soft. There is a beach bar at the beach which we enjoyed.
Just outside the gates of Nusa Dua and within Nusa Dua, you can do some shopping and go for a Balinese massage. The massages are inexpensive.
My two youngest kids sitting at reception, waiting whilst we’re checking out.
Bye Bye Courtyard Resort, Bali.
